Last Day at scats
Last day at SCATS is either a happy or sad day. New friendships were created. The leaving of SCATS campers is always sad.
What does this picture look like?
Does this look like Mickey Mouse to you? Well, if it does, you aren't the only one who thinks so. CNN News showed many people this picture of craters on Mercury, and a lot of people thought it looked like the iconic cartoon character. You may think that this image is a hoax, but it's actually a picture from NASA. The picture was taken by the Messenger mission spacecraft which is currently orbiting Mercury. It was actually a summer intern working on the Messenger mission who noticed that these three impact craters looked like Mickey. The crater that makes up his face is 65 miles across. Some people think it looks like the cherished character, but it could just be pareidolia (seeing a pattern where one doesn't exist.) So does it really look like Mickey Mouse?

A Tournament Of Tournaments
Saturday Night
Last Saturday, the male wing on the 4th floor of Schneider Hall had a “tournament of tournaments”, with challenges between campers from halo matches to dance offs. Many participants believe that the competitions were unfair due to physical strength and size. In the final, between Jake Lanham and counselor Anthony Bombik,, both participants battled in long jump, dance offs, latter balance, (where you remove your latter off your bed and see who can stand up on them the longest), and Pictionary. We were shocked by some of the great dance moves pulled off by Jake, like the hand dryer, and the 1 second cat daddy, and the ones that were performed by Anthony like a killer robot, and some crazy break dancing .Finally, the winner was determined to be Anthony.

Talent Show!
The talent show is coming up! SCATS students can't wait to see all of the talent that will be displayed tomorow at 6:30 pm. Students and all talents are welcome to perform. As well as academics, students will shine once again by showing off their hidden talents to their fellow peers. From dancing to singing to playing the piano, SCATS students can do it all. It's a great way for people to connect and get to know their friends better. So come to see the many talents SCATS students possess tommorow!
Water balloon attack
Imagine about twenty screaming kids armed with water balloons running at you. That's what the kids and counselors who were at the capture the flag optional saw on Saturday afternoon. Everyone in the water balloon optional (including me) did some relays involving water, dumped buckets of water on each other, and filled up lots of water balloons. Then it was time for the grand finale. Every kid and counselor in our optional grabbed a few balloons and we ran across the street, to soak the kids in the other optional. It was incredibly fun, well, unless you were playing capture the flag.

Talent Show review:scats 2012
Last night SCATS students showed their talents and what they can do at the SCATS 2012 Talent Show. From dancing to comedy acts, many of us were shocked at the talent of our fellow SCATS Students.
Many of the students last night focused on music. They all did amazing! A couple of students showed their talent on the piano and it was very impressive. From "Piano Man" to "Crocodile Rock," anyone could be impressed with the instrumental talent shown last night.
The musical talent wasn't only limited to pianos though! There was dance, too. It wasn't just one simple type of dance, there was a large variety of dance. There was modern dance, pointe ballet, and anything else you can think of. It was interesting to see all these types of dance and to see fellow SCATS Students show what they can do! Besides dance, there was also singing, ukulele, and banjo playing.
There were also a few comedy skits such as "The Mysterious Ticking Noise" and "The Rapping Turtle." Sounds interesting, right? After the talent show last night, it was evident that we have more comedians here at SCATS than we think.
Speaking of comedians, the MCs were awesome last night! They came up with funny, original intros to each act, which made the talent show that much more entertaining. About every 10 acts, they would perform a short, entertaining skit. The two they performed were "Chocolate Kisses" and "Salon." They were both very entertaining and kept the show interesting.
Be sure to check out our video of some of the acts at the SCATS 2012 Talent Show!

scats is almost over
Today is wednesday and it marks one and a half weeks at SCATS. SCATS has absolutely flown by. I feel like yesterday I was just beginning SCATS and now it is almost over. It will be very sad to leave SCATS. It is always very hard to say goodbye to all your new friends and counselors. During SCATS, you have so much so much fun that you don't even know its going by so fast! SCATS was absolutely the two fastest weeks of my life.
